LULAC Connects Critical Latino Voting Block With Presidential Candidates In The Key Battleground State Of Nevada

Nation’s Oldest & Largest Latino Civil Rights Org. Hosts Event with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Fmr. Mayor of South Bend, IN Pete Buttigieg, and Tom Steyer, to Address Pressing Issues for the Nearly Half a Million Eligible Latino Voters in Nevada

Las Vegas, Nevada - Today, The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) National held a town hall with Democratic presidential candidates and more than 300 registered Latino voters ahead of early voting on February 22nd in the Nevada caucus. LULAC’s Presidential Town Hall in Nevada is part of the organization’s series of candidate engagements to boost Latino voter turnout in key states for the 2020 elections. Currently, there are nearly half a million eligible Hispanic voters in the Silver State out of nearly 1.6 million total active registered voters.

“The Democratic presidential candidates that showed up at the LULAC Town Hall today realize that the road to the white house goes through the barrios and towns of Latino America,” said Domingo Garcia, LULAC National President. “Nevada is one of the most diverse primary states and what the candidates heard from Latino voters today reflects the kitchen table concerns of our families around the country, including education, healthcare, and immigration reform.”

“There is a reason why presidential candidates are ramping up their efforts to win over the Latino vote in Nevada. Every 30 seconds, a Latino reaches voting age in this country,” said LULAC National CEO Sindy Benavides. “The Latino community is a key group of voters that will prove critical in this primary and beyond. We’re thankful to the candidates that participated today and hope to work with the eventual nominee to advance Latino priorities in 2020 and beyond.”
